The easiest way to get started is to take a pen to paper and write down things you are knowledgeable about this can be hobbies, interests etc. also write down things you would like to be knowledgeable in then follow my example I did below for tin toy using your ideas.
For this example I will use the key word : “tin toys”
First let’s do a search to find out how many websites there are on this subject just over a million quite a few now I am going to use Googles keyword tool. The free keyword tool To see how many times this term has been searched for a month. As of this writing about 22,000 times a month here is a good amount of traffic but a lot of competition.
Now I am going to get more specific. I did the same search for “Tonka trucks” which returned 276,000 sites using the keyword tool I see that people have searched for this term between 6,000 to 8000 times a month this is a good market to get noticed in. I could make an information site on the subject or sell restoration parts for older toys or have a website that lists resources for Tonka trucks. The information and the resource site would rely on advertising for revenue. The other site would rely on e-commence sales.
When you do a search you will find a lot of results for general terms such as baking what you have to do is get creative and find what people are looking in an area like I did above use long tail key phrases like no sugar baking as an example.
Finding your niche recap
1 Make a list of things you have an interest it will be much more fun to work with
2 Research and more research don’t rush into making a website
3 Use Google search and the key word tool
4 Plan out the site its purpose and goals.
